Certificate Of Recognition (COR):

The Alberta Construction Safety Association (ACSA) and Alberta Human Resources and Employment, Workplace Health and Safety are committed to helping employers and workers reduce losses caused by workplace injuries through the “Certificate of Recognition” (COR) program for the Alberta construction industry. The COR is also used as a pre-qualification requirement for Contractors tendering work for many buyers of construction.
The Certificate of Recognition program is available to all members and associate members of the ACSA from owner/operators to large corporations and is administered by the Alberta Construction Safety Association.

| Small Employer Certificate Of Recognition (SECOR) : |

The Small Employer Certificate of Recognition program is based on the principles as the COR program listed above. Modifications have been made to the COR program so that it is more applicable to small businesses.
* NOTE * - In order to qualify for the Small Employer program your company may have no more than 10 employees. This number must take into account all staff that are covered under the WCB account. This includes owners, managers, clerical or administrative staff, part-time workers, temporary staff, family members and volunteers .

| National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO): |
|
|
|
The primary objective of this program is to combine formal training with the individual’s personal field experience. An NCSO provides a valuable resource to management in the administration and implementation of the company’s Health & Safety Program.
Certification indicates that the participant has practical knowledge in various construction-related Health & Safety management skills and principles.
This program is recommended for Health & Safety practitioners who wish to receive construction-focused training and be recognized as an NCSO in other provinces.
This program will enable participants to:

“Assist” management in the administration, implementation and maintenance of a Health & Safety management system
-
Identify and review various Health & Safety concerns specific to the worksite
-
Communicate effectively with government, management and workers regarding Health & Safety, on and off the job

| Health and Safety Administrator (HSA) : |
|
|
| The primary objective of this program is to provide formal training for an administrator of a Health & Safety program, who does not have a minimum of three years construction field experience.
Certification indicates that the participant has knowledge in various Health & Safety management skills and principles.
This program will enable participants to:

“Assist” management in the administration, implementation and maintenance of a Health & Safety management system

Identify and review various Health & Safety concerns specific to the worksite
-
Communicate effectively with government, management and workers regarding Health & Safety, on and off the job

| Small Employer Ride Along Program (SERAP): |

The Small Employer Ride Along program is outlined as follows:
- Advise on the use and application OH&S legislations
- Advise on implementation strategies of health & safety programs.
- Make recommendations on health and safety training requirements.
- Assist industry on the development of industry recognized Best Practices
- Demonstrate the Construction Safety Training System (CSTS).
- Advise on first aid requirements and emergency planning.
- Advise workers on their responsibilities for health and safety.
- Advise Contractor on their role and responsibilities regarding legislation.
- Inform Contractor on current and up coming legislations.
- Work with participating Contractor supervision on using and applying the company’s Health & Safety Program (i.e., Hazard Assessments & Inspections).
- Work with industry to assess the industry needs for the development of training programs.
- Demonstrate examples of safety equipment.
