Each year the ACSA gives special recognition to individuals who have gone above and beyond the norm supporting construction health and safety in our province. This award is presented for outstanding personal efforts given to the reduction of lost time claims in the construction industry, and for invaluable input applied to the successful development of health and safety programs for the ACSA.

Wayne King: (Click Name to view Picture)
Wayne is the owner and operator of Anchor “D” Safety, founded in 1996 and has been involved in the safety industry since 1984. Wayne has written numerous safety programs and safety training programs for a variety of different companies. Through continuous training, Wayne has obtained the Occupational Health and Safety certificate from the U of A, and his CSO designation from the ACSA. In Wayne’s words “safety begins at the top and that means the corporate entity, I continue to devote my life to offering training, information and investigations into what can go wrong, how it can happen and how to prevent it. Only from history, knowledge and continued study can we keep people safe at work and at home.”
Bill Tremain: (Click Name to view Picture)
Bill worked for the Alberta Construction Safety Association for 10 years retiring in 2006 to work as an independent safety consultant. Prior to working at the ACSA Bill spend 24 years with the Canadian Armed Forces and another 6 years with PCL Contractors Inc. While at PCL Bill worked with the ACSA on training initiatives for First Nation’s people. Bill still remains active with the ACSA as a contract trainer in the southern region and continues to help the ACSA with its goals and initiatives as a member of the Calgary Regional Safety Committee.
Co Vanderlaan: (Click Name to view Picture)
Co retired from the Christian Labour Association of Canada (CLAC) and the ACSA Board of Directors in September 2007. Co worked for CLAC for 44 years retiring as the National Representative, he joined the ACSA Board of Directors in 1999 and was a strong and steady voice for safety concerns in the industry. Co sat on a number of committees while on the Board and helped develop and deploy many ACSA programs and initiatives. Last year we honored CLAC with a Partner award, this year we would like to honor Co Vanderlaan, the man behind CLAC for many years.
Hans Tiedemann: (Sorry no Picture Available)
Hans is the Executive Director for the Mechanical Contractors Association of Alberta and has been in that position since 1997. The MCA Alberta Board appointed Hans as their Director Representative to the ACSA Board of Directors in 1998. Prior to joining MCA Alberta, Hans worked for the Alberta Motor Association in a number of cities throughout the province and brings many years of administrative and safety experience and education. Hans has always worked closely with the ACSA on its initiatives to bring quality education and advice to the industry.
