4600 Confined Space Entry (CBT) (1 day)

Description: This computer-based training program is designed for the individual worker. Introducing some of the common hazards of working in a confined space, the training takes on average 4 hours. It is an excellent awareness program for workers who may have a chance of exposure to confined space, and may not necessarily be performing confined space work on a regular basis. It stresses the need for proper training and use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), using real-life situations. Course Objectives:

To identify three features of a confined space

To identity some of the hazards of working in a confined space (immediate danger to life and health [IDLH] hazards)

To illustrate the need for proper site procedures (entry team)

To describe the dangers of oxygen enriched and oxygen deficient atmospheres

Course Content:

Description of confined space and the reasons for fatalities

Definition of terms and presentation of some legislated standards

Identification of hazards of the workplace

Description of hazard controls including engineering, permits, and training

Description of PPE and a brief reference to respiratory protective equipment (RPE)

Description of the duties of entrants and the crew supervisor

Scope of the training:

Multimedia presentation (video, and slides with audio)

Interactive questions and answer sessions

Comprehension/competency testing
