ACSA Courses

5200 Alberta Temporary Traffic Control Course (2 days)

Description:

Alberta traffic control technicians in partnership with the American Traffic Safety Services Association (ATSSA) have designed this two-day course.  The course will be delivered throughout the province of Alberta by traffic control experts selected by industry representatives in conjunction with the ACSA.  The target audience for this course is employees who are involved in developing, assisting set up, or monitoring the implementation of temporary traffic control plans.

Course Objectives:

  • To provide knowledge to participants of temporary traffic control practices
  • To assist in skill development for those that are responsible for developing and maintaining temporary traffic control strategies for road construction
  • To assist the participant in understanding the theoretical portion of worker competency in implementing a temporary traffic control plan
  • To create a safer work zone
  • To establish consistent temporary traffic control standards for Alberta

Certification: Valid for three years

Quiz:  Participants will be required to pass a quiz (80% or better) upon completion of the course. 

Re-certification: 

To re-certify, participants will have three options:

  • Re-take the course
  • Challenge the quiz
  • Provide employer verification that they have been active as the temporary traffic control person in the industry for the past three years.


This course qualifies for 1.0 BCRSP Certificate maintenance points. (CPM 10219)


Prerequisites:
  • The ACSA Flagger Train-the-Trainer course or have taken flagger training with an approved agency, and 
  • Proof of three years field experience in a role involving temporary traffic control planning on construction work sites
