4008 Prime Contractor Course (1 day)

Description: This one-day course is designed for owners, employers, managers, and supervisors who may assume or be designated the prime contractor of the work-site.

Course Objectives:

  • To inform employers of their legislated responsibilities when they assume the role of Prime Contractor
  • To assist employers on how to effectively manage their health and safety system/process as Prime Contractor

  • Alberta Occupational Health and Safety Act
    System/process for managing Health and Safety on the work site:


  • System/Process requirements to meet prime contractor responsibilities
  • Health and Safety Management System/Process "Planning Guide"
  • Work Site Safety Plan
  • Sample forms to assist development of the system/process
    This course teaches employers, managers, and supervisors the legislated responsibilities a prime contractor has on a work site where two or more employers are engaged in work at the same time. It will also show "how to" develop a prime contractor health and safety management system/process for that work site.

    This course will assist all parties involved, on an Alberta construction work site, understand the legislated responsibilities associated with the role of the prime contractor.
