4008 Prime Contractor Course (1 day)

Description:

This one-day course has been designed for people in the construction industry who want to know about the Alberta legislation requirements as it relates to “Prime Contractor” on a multiple employer work site. 

Course Objectives:

  • To inform participants of the legislated responsibilities of a “Prime Contractor”
  • To assist in the “how to” plan, implement, and effectively manage a health and safety system or process when in the role of the “Prime Contractor”
  • To provide a framework to manage a project when designated the “Prime Contractor”
  • Understand the duties of the “Prime Contractor’s site designate”

Course Content:

  • Legislation introduction and background
  • Federal Legislation – Corporate Liability
  • Provincial Legislation 
  • Prime Contractor Requirements and Obligations

Establishing System or Process to Manage Health and Safety on the Work Site:

  • Consideration of system requirements
  • Developing work site safety plan
  • Prime Contractor Guide (Includes sample forms)

 


Course provides valuable information for employers in the Alberta construction industry that have or are about to enter into an agreement with an owner where they will be functioning in the role of Prime Contractor.



This course qualifies for 0.5 BCRSP Certificate maintenance points. (CPM 10209)
